Survivor Scholarships
At TREE Climbers we believe that the pursuit of education is one of the most vital parts of healing and self-empowerment. But many CSA survivors lack the opportunity or resources to pursue higher education.
The devastating effects of CSA during childhood often means that victims have a difficult time in school. Abuse, especially if it is prolonged, can disrupt the development of the brain. Children who are anxious, fearful, and depressed because of abuse have a hard time focusing on academic pursuits.
In adulthood, CSA survivors often suffer with the long term effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and other disturbing symptoms that make it hard to function, let alone pursue a degree.
We believe that all survivors, if they are given the tools for recovery and have support, can pursue their dreams. We also recognize that many survivors are drawn to work with other abused children and adults.
Our scholarship program will be designed to help survivors of CSA who want to pursue degrees in the following fields:
- Nursing
- Social Work
- Child Development
- Criminal Justice
Survivors interested in applying for a scholarship should send an email to Roxine@TreeClimbersinc.org requesting more information.
